« on: February 06, 2009, 01:30:56 PM »

Hi every one thought I would buy feb model boats to get the plans on looking at them more closely I find there to be several discrepancy's that don't add up mainly the numbers on the bulkhead profiles don't measure the same as the ones on the side elevation, and the shape off bulkheads at the bow, may be its just me anybody else have any views or ideas on this plan ,cheers Dave

Hi Workboat

On the body plan the numbers for the ribs on the left hand side are supposed to go 6-7-8-8/1/2-9/9/1/2/10 and not 5/6/7/8/1/2

Was that supposed to read 6-7-8-81/2-9-91/2-10 and not 5-6-7-81/2 John ?

hi there

yes, the first three frames look correct  :-))

this does look as though its been designed for a steel welded hull - on the original vessel.   So, it therefore tends to have flat sections at the bow.

This particular hull would lend itself greatly to a 'flat plywood construction'.

Possibly I do understand the question , and not sure what was the problem referred to by the original posting, as far as I can see the numbers on the body plan stations  on my plan match up to those noted on the longitudinal views.
Can you possibly explain further what is the problem?

PS the shape of the bows etc was taken from original designs, and verified by the responsible naval architect concerned.

Re above looking more closely at the published version of the plan I can see that the notation 81/2 has been missed on the body plans although the actual section is there. Naturally I am concerned about any errors. My original plan is "scanned" by a PC scanning process by another agency used by Model Boats, and the copy is sent to me for proof reading prior to publication, not unknown for a checker to make an error, greater number of copies greater chance of mistake!
Would be interested in any models built to the plan.
