Spotted this beauty. Any ideas?
« on: February 09, 2009, 10:41:10 am »

I spotted this beautiful old girl in dry dock at Velez Malaga Port. I have no idea of her name or type, but she is a beauty. Any ideas?

Not an ex-MTB these were double-diagonal planked with a hard chine hull.
Most likely a gentlemans motor-yacht from the 50s or 60s from the likes of James Silver of Rosneath.

hi there

I was thinking a Harbour Defence Launch, but, when you look at the size of the cabin door to the wheelhouse; take it that is say between 5-6 foot in height; that would give an approximate length of say between 42-46 foot - way short of a Harbour Defence Launch - which are 72 foot in length.

Tend to agree with what Christian says, i.e. a gentleman's luxury yacht  ;)   However, I would have thought the 1930's-1940's era.   If it is a Military style vessel - then - how's about an Admiral's Launch? mmmm possibility

I wonder if it could be of Spanish origins.
I am sure their military vessels would have different from ours.

I reckon she is as Bluebird suggests about 40 plus feet long. I will take another trip down to her later this week and see if I cannot ask some questions....

Certainly not of N/American origin, me thinks. ;D
Size: Between 52'-62', using the scale of the Furuno radar, up top.

The hull looks to a had some military or civil influence though.
