H.M.S.KENT build
« on: February 16, 2009, 12:10:08 am »

Hi I am a member of Cygnets Model Boat Club. It is our 50th anniversary this year and to celebrate we are building a type 23 frigate. The ship hull is made up of two parts bolted together in the middle.
On the 11th July this year we are going to sail it from Tonbridge to Maidstone in Kent, finishing up on the Medway at Maidstone in the afternoon. When it arrives in Maidstone it will be joined by a fatilla of other model boats of all types and sizes. This monster is over 13ft long and everything has been made from scratch by various members of the club. Everyone is welcome to join us in Maidstone on the afternoon of the 11th July 2009. So come along and join us in Maidstone. Here is a link for you to click on so you can follow our progress on the build.

http://www.cygnetsmbc.com/hms_kent_project/index.html

After you have clicked on the link if you scroll down there are various buttons to click on for information and pictures.
Hope that you have found this of some interest.

kind regards
Alan and Debbie and the rest of the members of Cygnets Model Boat Club.

Hi Charles,

Thankyou for your message.

I am Alan's other half Debbie and I am currently the Secretary of Cygnets Model Boat Club.

It is a very good club, the guys are very friendly are always there to give advice.

If you go onto the Cygnets website you will find a memebership form on there and some other useful information.

The website has a few pictures of our model HMS Kent that was built for our 50th Anniversary last year.

If you click on the link below you will see how lovely she looks on the water. The members are still in the process of putting all of the cosmetic bits and bobs on her.

Hope to hear from you again soon.

Take care

regards
Debbie and Alan

I am considering a Type 23 as my next project, my last ship in the RN was HMS Montrose so it's a sentimental journey for me. I am a novice builder new to the hobby - I am currently working on a Deans Marine model of HMS Cossack which has been enjoyable to build.

I am looking at the Fleet Scales 1/96 version of HMS Argyle, could you advise on the running gear used in your model and it's layout?

not sure if the details of the running gear of this kent would be of much use to you this one is over 13 feet long

for the record it's powered by two geared graupner 900's on 12v with custom built propshafts

if you need any more info pm me
