Don't worry too much Martin.  Several have flown without incident since.  Anyway, that flight was stating in freezing temperatures, probably went over the pole and landed in cold conditions.  Shouldn't be anything like that involving Jamaica.
It's odd what ice can do.  When I was a yoof with the POED, during January 1962, I was sent out with a guy who was on call, thus taking his van (an ANCIENT Morris E type) home at night.  That was a cold cold winter.  The van was parked outdoors overnight, and come the morning, on several days, the windscreen wipers would refuse to work.  Same story every morning, take the van to the mechanics, they would eventually wander over and try the wipers.  Worked every  time.  Then one morning I took the lid off the wiper motor (I had a screwdriver and it was by my left knee) and there was a big greasy ice lolly in there.  Solid enough to stall the electric motor.  A few more minutes waiting for a mechanic in the relatively warm garage, and it became watery grease.  Motor now turns.
The point of this rambling (because all that I know of flying is that fares are cheap but everybody involved makes up for that while you are a captive audience) is that there is no mention of checking for lumps of ice on the outside of the various valves.

Hello from Veracruz
I live at place that is infamous because the mosquitoes, something that works against those. is the smell of cedar, that perfume of a precious wood You can fill it in every house where senior people live, I have to warning about the juice of lemon in the skin expose to the sun make a very hard stain, in my family works very well against the mosquitoes one tablet per day of vitamin B.
But you can use some rum to forget everything :D
Have a very good trip

Avon skin so soft is tried and tested by the british armed forces and several thousand anglers in the uk too.

Personally I just start hitting the B vitamins. Although tastless and odorless to us, mossies hate the smell/tast. When the season starts I just start taking B vitamins in the morning. The exess B vitamin is ecscreated through the skin, so the whole of your body is protected. (turns your pee bright yellow too ;-) )  there is no side effects known to exist either.
Being a carp fisherman I spend lots of tie at the waters edge. Having tried the B vitamins, (multi complex) I have never had any problems from the little buggers!

Any thing that smells of lemons will also have a repulsive effect.

Don't worry about the 777, Martin, we flew from Heathrow to Sydney with BA on one, and we survived  O0 . It's a great aeroplane.

Stay away from bananas, carbonated beverages, chips(crisps?) and fragerent body products (aftershaves, body sprays etc.), any repellent with DEET in it will work.

Martin,

Special Forces, the Marines and Scottish forestry workers are reputed to use Avon's 'Skin So Soft' Dry Oil Body Spray. Fortunately, the smell is quite mild and so you won't get any funny looks and may be able to pass yourself off as SBS. I've tried it on walks on the West Coast of Scotland where midgies can bore through armour plate and had good results. The secret seems to be to reapply a coat at regular intervals.

Regards

Barry  M

All my workmates thought I was daft buying this stuff even the council issue their workers with it works a treat

Not the correct thing as nothing has been said n this site to warrant it and further more Neil I havent caused any mayhem on the site you have mentioned or I would have been banned ,I merely asked a question and others jumped on the band wagon and when I found out the answer I nevr posted on the subject again
and was  merely  welcoming someone I knew
and Peter point taken will keep on topic now

If you don't have an effective mosquito net, or you are sat in a chair, a fan helps a lot.

The mozzies use thermal imaging and the fan disturbing the air makes it much harder for them to find you.
