Can you, uses TX switches to turn on/off Lights??
« on: September 10, 2017, 08:26:49 pm »

Evening all.

my question today is can you link up lights, to turn on and off though the transmitter??

i brought a southampton tug, and recently brought a Spektrum dx6E. reading the instructions it does say you can change the channel assignments to switches.. after blowing a few leds yesterday, i found a spare 6vlt smoke generator so tried using the same principle with that to test it out, however as the power is put though via the receiver, it doesn't actually turn off.. so maybe you cant??

any feed back or advice would be appreciated.

many thanks in advance

Short answer, yes.
But you will need a switcher, check out ACTion Electronics through Component shop. Will do what you want.

We have a member who also makes these switches.

I have used these myself on various projects.  They work from any channel on the R/x directly with no extra control switches needed as they can be controlled with just a flick of the toggle.

To back Ken up. I have used over 6 of these double switches . Best on the market for both value and quality

If there not a lot of lights, I've used a old servo board.

Removed the motor and wired the leds to the + - of board. just need to rememeber to center the potentiometer(and superglue) or conect a couple of resisters to it.

Or you can use a spare servo to operate 1 or 2 micro switches. A low tech solution that's been used for at least 40 years.

Small piece of Ally angle, small servo and small limit switch

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-receiver-controlled-switch-1.html?___store=en_us

HobbyKing also do a multifunction switch with 7 positions. Pos 1 turns on with flick of switch on transmitter, flick it a second time Pos 2 is activated. All the way through to Pos 6. Position 7 then turns them all off. Thus it gives you the ability to switch 6 functions in turn and then turn them all off simultaneously.

I have 3 of these switches still waiting to be used in anger :embarrassed:

The easiest is to use a servo to control a switch, but if you want something more, Check in these two sections,
Microprocessor control
The "Black Arts!" ( Electrics & Electronics )
If you don't find something in those try this forum;
