Humber work boats sringer
« on: March 11, 2009, 09:56:36 pm »

on Saturday we attended the hobbies exibition  at the local leasure center in Goole .
This is a good time to show your wears and to see what others are doing besides boats , any ways whilst there i was offered this for a very reasonable price . so been a Yorkshireman i offered a price lower , which was accepted . Now i dont know if it's a real tug or just a representation but i like it , what do you think ?.
Oh not sure if the crew are on the right boat , or maybe ready to repell boarders

 You got a bargain there no matter what you paid.   Great detail, even inside the wheelhouse. Crew look OK to me. Nice buy.

Nice boat... and probably worth what you paid for it...  :}

Whats inside it?.. motor?... running gear?.. How big is it?... 18" x 8"?

It might be a Springer, the shape looks like it could be... though I'm not sure what the 'purists' will think of the twin props and rudders..  >:-o

I notice a slight "flat" on the base of the hull. Springerish and nice.

Aha ! I thought I recognised the tank on the upper deck. It came from a childs "farm tractor" toy set fertiliser spray trailer. I put to another use G-guage railway weed killer wagon.  For those that might have missed it on another thread here is a handy start for a Springer wheelhouse from Lidl , only £1.95 for two. Some surgery and clear windows and you have the traditional "pagoda". Easy to glue as they are made of polystyrene.

Still waiting to get it wet , i had to replace the two servos strange thing they were both twitching like mad , at first i thought it was my end but they still twitch out of the boat . Under the lid she has a bob's board esc and some lead the twin props are driven by a pair of early metro fan motors and on bench trials with the bob's esc they work well on the recomended 12v . As for size well she is bigger than a standard springer so could be a super springer model (sizes to follow) and the detail is realy good , right down to the rivets around the portholes and the leavers on the hiab , hopefully i will have it on the water this saturday and get some photos .

Well things change  fast in the model world , well they did with the little shove .
Bought it last saturday ,fitted a pair of new servos in ,gave it its water trials today and sold it .
One of the members saw me putting it through its paces on a choppy pond , a bit gusty too and asked to buy with radio  ready to go ,
what could i do ,with a shed full of models i have to reduce . So i have the last few photos of it in my hands and she sails well despite the gusty wind .

That looks really good on the water.
I would have liked to see if she would tow.
