Triton research vessel or littoral combat ship
« on: January 14, 2009, 10:23:49 am »

Hi guys i am loking for plans on either of these ships or something similar as i have dredged the depths of the internet and cannot find any hull plans all i come up with are pictures

triton research vessel
http://www.naval-technology.com/projects/trimaran/

Littoral combat ship
http://www.austal.com/index.cfm?objectid=8CB536ED-65BF-EBC1-29D0BD06A94CC667

Both these ships are trimarans and use jet propulsion and i think that they both would be able to make an excellent model. I was hoping to produce a model around the 900mm -1000mm mark but any hull lines would be greatly appreciated

i have approached the australian branch of Austral shipping and they did not want to give any hull lines away or anything that looked like a drawing and they would not allow me to go to their factory and take any photo's

but these things happen

cheers guys

RV Triton was single screw propulsion.
She was the ultimate "model boat" being built as a 1/3 scale vessel as part of the Future Frigate Project.
After her 2 yrs "stormchasing" to test the hull strength and suitability she was put up for sale and eventually was converted to a private yacht.

When was she converted to a private Yacht ? , Last I Heard she is / was called "ACV Triton" with the Australian Coastguard as a Northern Patrol Vessel, or is that not now the case?

She was going to be operated by the RMAS and I was 1 of the Engineers put on stand-by to take her.
She was eventually given to Serco (i think) to operate and stormchase.

You might try your local Maratime Museum in Australia for plans. I had to go to the German one for my boat plan.

RE; Triton
I sailed on her 2 or 3 times she rolls like a barrel (30 - 35 Deg) at slow speeds in even modest seas , at above 9 kts she steadies up and is liveable , has a top speed cruising of about 23 kts She has two Deltic's generators driving an electric motor on the single main shaft and the prop extends 1.5m below the keel with a single spade rudder ---She also has an electric drive in each of the sponsors with a prop but no rudder (6 kts nominally speed) Gardline has also added a bow thrusterCheck Gardlines web site Gardline Geo Surveys
Or Ring and ask for Mark Bobby Fleet Superintendent, Speak nicely and he might send you a G.A.plan of her...
