French Trawler VIVALDI.
« on: April 11, 2009, 09:47:51 pm »

Hello,

at the request of nhp651, here's a summary in pictures of the scratchbuild of the trawler VIVALDI of Lorient. The scale is 1/13th the dimensions 1M75X0M52. It weighs 82 Kilos. The model is covered with aluminum. The propeller pitch is personal design.
If seen have any questions, try to answer within the limits of my English.

Here is photos of the built of the propeller of the model of the trawler Vivaldi. It's a controlable pitch propeller that I built entirely.

You can see the different stages of construction here: http://cnavale.quennetier.free.fr/spip.php?article17

Beautiful machinery, that propeller is really a work of art, but to be able to do that as well as build the bridge to such a stunning level of detail is a rare combination.

Stunning, I think I'm going to take up baking, or knitting, or go into a corner and polish my motorbike.

Thank you for all your compliments! You make me blush! :embarrassed: :embarrassed: :embarrassed:

This building was a good experience. Long, but very pleasant!
I had so much fun to make this boat with this technique, which I will repeat with another trawler. It is called  STIREN AR MOR. It is a 16-meter trawler that will scale 1/15. Do not try this boat in a port, because this boat is completely out of my imagination and that of my eldest son Yohann. Yohann is fisherman at the port of Le Croisic(France) and skipp time to time the trawler "MABON II".This project trawler that we developed together, is the boat he would build if he created his company. At the moment, I draw the plans and construction could start in 2 months. The boat will be built with the same plating process as aluminum as the Vivaldi, with a controlable pitch propeller that I realize
I'll show you pictures of the work throughout construction.

In the first picture, here is the design of the project. The model will have the same colors. And another picts of the VIVALDI.

It's a shame to cover all that beautiful minature engineering up with paint work, but when you are looking at the photos of the winch deck she really does look like the real ship and not a minature creation.
Absolutely beautiful, Philippe. :-)) :-))

Hello

:o Vivaldi you are here ?

I  know well this masterpiece, this miracle, as the first sea trial took place at home, on my personnal pond named Porz Bihan (Little harbour in breton language)

As I have a covered part and an electrical lift with 200kg capacity, it was a very good help to check and to make adjustement to the variable pitch propeller as the boat need to be out of water, in water, out of water, in water ....

In fact the main problem with this boat in my home pond was the smell of fish  >>:-(  she's a trawler and I'm only works with tugboat

Of course it's humour  :embarrassed:

Some pics taken at that time

Hoping to see you soon.

A+ Xtian

Xtian to thank you for allowing me to do testing of the propeller and to see the model for the first time in the water!
Even if it's a "boat that smell of fish", his eyes betraying his addiction for trawlers (see pics following). He does not want it be known ...  :embarrassed: :embarrassed: O0 O0

These tests allowed me to see the need for the engine is powered by 9V. 12 V is much too powerful. While sailing, the electric engine always runs at the same speed, and only the tilt of the blades gives the appearance to the vessel. For a correct speed, I only use 40% of the inclination of the blades, leaving a lot of power in reserve to go up a high current for example.

The pics below are proof of that  Xtian like fishing vessels ... ok2 ok2  %% (pics taken in Pors Bihan)

Anybody know of a nice hobby they can recommend, cause I quite! OK, only joking but this is just too much. What a nice boat, it really looks like photos from a real vessel being built. And that pond! Congratulations to both of you!

i like the pond aswell as the boats.  By the looks of it even if its pouring with rain you can stand under the shelter and have a wee sail!

Hi Vivaldi,
A outstanding work of engineering and craftmanship. The use of aluminum I really like. I have used lots of brass which I solder and would be interested in what bonding material is used on the aluminum.

Hi ggeorge,

Aluminium is stuck, with an industrial product used in aeronautics, which is a paste, and which is preserved at the freezer. Failing this, one can use the epoxy one with two components. It is besides the process which I will use for the next model that I will build, "Stiren Ar Mor". .
