Thanks for the update Barry , all i had heard was that the gearbox had separated didn't realise it was the whole rotor hub assembly that came off , that makes it even more of a problem as I would have thought the fixing bolts for that assembly would be the strongest on the helicopter having to hold its entire weight as well as all of the dynamic loading with flying.

After yesterday's Memorial Service in Aberdeen, BBC news broadcasts referred only to a service for the "16 men who died in the helicopter crash". The 17th man who died on the same day on the Wellservicer, was also remembered at the service but did not rate a mention by the BBC studio presenter.

I wonder how his family felt about that?

He was mentioned in the half 6 BBC Scotland News Barry and was mentioned a few times in their coverage on the BBC News24 channel on the Satellite.

Aye, Davie, but almost just in passing and the newspaper coverage today was no better. His death was as much a tragedy as all the other lads. Sad really.

what sickens me is when the reporting scotland team were doing a report outside the st nic church a man in the background dropped his trowsers.  Extremely insensitive >>:-(
