Padstow Lifeboat & Boathouse.
« on: April 19, 2009, 11:32:09 PM »

Was down in the sunny area of Cornwall last week and had a trip out to the Lifeboat Station in Padstow.

The First picture shows a model the New boat house along side the old one prior to demolition.

In the picture of the mess room there are 4 models of Lifeboats , all built by a Fellow club Member "A.Still"  and then donated to the Station, hopefully they will be better displayed at some time but the funds they get needs to be spent else where other than on display cases , hence why they are on the window sill out of harms way.

Nice set of pics...
I was thinking of modeling the Tenby station myself.
Of course first thing would be to buy a Tamar class Life boat.   :-)

There was an article on TV recently about the barometers that are found at various places around our coasts - similar to the one pictured above.

They were/are mostly supplied by the Met Office free and on permanent loan - some going back to the mid 1800's.

There are one or two examples built into the walls of coastal cottages in the Scottish Highlands.  With the advent of radio, a lot of the barometers aren't in daily use any more, but do still work.
