GURKHAS PETITION
« on: April 24, 2009, 06:24:21 pm »

The Government must act now, after years of delay, to change the law to allow all retired Gurkhas the right to stay in the UK, without reservation.

Please encourage your friends, family and colleagues to join you today in adding their name to the Gurkha Justice cause by also signing up at www.gurkhajustice.org.uk.

With the support of people across the UK, who understand the huge contribution that the Gurkhas have made to our country, this is a fight we must win.

Already, tens of thousands of people have signed: an extraordinary response
in support of an extraordinary group of people.

We demand the full, fundamental change in law that will allow all retired
Gurkhas the right to live here. The Government's decision on 25th April
goes nowhere near far enough. Many thousands of Gurkhas who served our
country will still be refused the right to live here.

The High Court demanded new rules from the Government. The Government's
response has been awful. We must be clear. We want the right for all
Gurkhas who have served this country to live here if they wish.

To make the biggest possible impact, we really need more people to sign up:
lots more. We need to form one of the biggest ever campaigns to force the
to change their mind and to show our support for the Gurkha cause.

Worked with the Gurkhas many times in my time in the Army .Great people true friends of our country , not like takers who slide in unannounced daily and end up staying.

signed with tears in my eyes.
What this government has done is despotic, disgusting and makes me ashamed to be British.
How can we cellebrate St Georges day when we treat the most loyal and brave comrades that a man could have in the field of conflict ,the way this government has done.
I am sick to the stomache at what these scumbags in power have done.

Signed,

What a shame we elect those who only have their own interests in mind - expenses being one of them, but, who can you trust if they wanted to be a politician!!!!!

Signed and as every one else says a damned disgrace ,these boys deserve it more than a lot of the immigrants who come here by putting their lives on the line to be treated like second class citizens where others come here just for the benefits system

First met them as "enemy" during training, yes they "killed" us in our bivvies. Nothing like waking up to a kuhkri

and a smling face " You dead, Sir!"..... Next time on the Faklands in '82. As said earlier, thank God they are on our side :-))

I've signed too.

I'm appalled by the attitude of the Government on this issue (and on most other issues actually).

One MP was saying on the radio this afternoon that he thought that the British public wouldn't want to see (potentially) 100 thousand Gurkhas including their families settling in the UK - It shows just how out of touch the Government is with the population?

What is 100 thousand?  Just around 10% above the seating capacity of Wembly Stadium.

Personally, I'd be proud to have them here, and I'd welcome them with open arms - fine honourable men, all of them.

I don't normally sign petitions, but as I listened to the news tonight my blood boiled.
We can't deport very undesirable people because of their human rights but wont allow those who have fought and died for this country over 200 yrs.
If we open the "Floodgates" to the Gurkhas and 100,000 do come here what do we get.

Intensely Loyal, Hard Working and very Proud citzens who have proven their loyalty to the Crown and Country.

Get rid of the MP's and make room for at least 650 of them, oh yes, with "Expenses" make that 1000.

I just could not believe the verdict.

With you 100% Bob.

I would rather have 100 thousand loyal honourable people who are willing to support our country during bad times, rather than the 1 sponger who turns up from an eastern European country expecting a hand out. These brave people have been badly treated by this government, the people who are supposed to be in charge shuld hang their heads in shame.

Labour! This is absoloutly stupid, I can't beleive what they have done now, this is out of order, never mind the Ghurkas, I have signed too, but, what of what is left of our armed forces, in all the defence review type magazines etc and also in some political circles, we do not have enough of anything to defend ourselves with now. They have screwed all three services with too many cuts, What navy? What actual army that are not already heavily deployed and the Airforce, they are using masking tape to hold planes together, it is time to get these pillocks out of office and get someone with a brain cell in!

 Rant over, Paul... >>:-( <*<

Signed, thanks for the link Dicky.  I'll never be able to understand why we insist on being the softest touch when it comes to nationalities around the world who we house, feed and clothe while they plot terrorist activities against us yet a nation who have proved beyond any ones doubt that they deserve to be here are dismissed in this way.
