Paddle Steamer Ryde. Sad end for a fine old lady.
« on: April 29, 2009, 11:01:03 am »

On a visit to the Isle of Wight yesterday I had a look at the old paddle steamer Ryde, she is in a desperately sorry state now.

I have put up an album of photos on the Model Boats site here: http://www.modelboats.co.uk/albums/member_album.asp?a=5854

It is a really sad sight to see, but it seems the same where ever you go around the coast with groups with the best intentions trying to save an old boat but in reality just letting the things rust away very slowly. If it wheels with a 4 foot 8 and a 1/4 gauge then it would bee rebuilt by now and giving rides at a walking pace on some preservation line.
