Getting Glue Off
« on: May 01, 2009, 05:45:38 pm »

Hi all
Anyone know the best way to remove glue (From hot glue gun) from painted g.r.p its covering the transom bottom & 50% of the prop tube :((  Need to be rid of it to fit a jet unit.
So chip away, heat it or what?
Cheers
John

I am not expert but this is what I would try.

If the painted GRP the glue was attached to is smooth, it may well shear away.

It can also be pared away with shardp chisel very easily, just shave it away a bit at a time.
You may not get it clean, but you will make room for the other stuff.
A gentle heat will make it softer easing the shaving action.

I'd try to soften the glue with a hairdryer and scrape it off with lolly sticks.
