Advice needed, renovation project
« on: May 13, 2009, 05:26:03 pm »

I recently reacquired an Italian runabout (Riva type) that I built as a boy 50 years ago. The hull seems to be in a sound condition. I have stripped off all the fittings, prop shaft, rudder and motor as they were either broken or not to acceptable standards. I now wish to refit as an rc boat. The model is 650mm long and beam 200mm. I am guessing the scale is about 1:15. If a full size version could achieve 30 Knots then scale speed is around 8 knots.
Suggestions please for a suitable motor, prop and battery.
Where should I look for windscreen, deck fittings, steering wheel and dash details, and seats/upholstery?
Any info greatfully received.

There are a couple of ongoing threads about Barrel Back launches on the Model Boats Forum at the moment, the posters seem to be quite knowledgeable about this type of model.
