« on: May 21, 2009, 12:51:13 pm »

Hi all, can anyone advise,me on the best glue to use,i,m going to build a transport box for my boats and will be using 9mm ply,and 25mm x 25mm wood I,ve heard about Polyurethene glue, that when applied,it foams up,then when dry,in aabout an hour, the excess can be trimmed off, would this be ok or should i use some other type,

Make sure the ply is WBP (Wash and Boil Proof) grade and look for Cascamite or Resinmite or whatever they call it now,  PINGING DJ ROBBO.  :-))

White PVA should be fine. Cheap and - if added correctly - stronger than the wood.

The polyurethane glue is superb, but fiendishly expensive, and does not have all that long a shelf life. I've used it for both full size and model boats.
