Thanks for that Gordon, I seem to have an MP that works for his living as an MP and doesn't own two houses or make ridiculous claims on his expenses.

I dont get paid travel money to go to work,I dont own a second home near my work,or any money to write a letter.
So why should they, there wages are far higher than the average persons wage, and their pensions will keep them while the
rest of the elderly struggle to make ends meet.
Makes me sick that the taxpayer supports the greedy and bone idle

Dear All,

I have to say that the Lib. MP around here is good, works hard, and get's things done. He is also clean as far as expenses, and an article was written about him last week in the Regional paper confirming same. He is actually a very good, and, as it happens. only lives about 100yds away from me. Always happy to have a chat, and has done a great deal for many people and Orgs. etc. in the County one way and another... and is happy to stand by a good cause. I think I will vote for him in the next Election as he makes things happen... and without doubt works very hard. Party politics is irrelevant, he just get's things done.

I remain of firm opinion that dinosaur Party politics in this modern World of ours must die for good, it is the individual as an MP and their performance that is vastly more important. If they don't perform then they are out and replaced... simple as that. All this nonsense about Political Parties and County Councils is absolute rubbish... C.Councillors should be chosen in just the same way as I have mentioned re MP's. No performance... out on their ear and replaced.

Regards, Bernard

To be fair the cost of the travelling all the way from Skye shouldn't be included as that part is going to be very variable. It is pretty disgraceful that no check was made on 2nd homes for mps whose constituency was close to London.
We used to get a £10 daily inconvenience allowance for being away overnight but that went years ago and the allowance on the approved hotels list hasn't risen for a while either.

Altogether I think this all goes along with the death of common sense.
