Latest and greatest tow innovation.

Shipmates, I'm just not sure I like this system!  If the towline parts, the bridge crew is pretty much toast!
Also notice the lack of safety measures being followed in this vid. Those observers are frequently standing directly inline with the towline. The first thing taught to a greenhorn seaman when he comes aboard, is never to be where a taught line will get you when it parts, and rebounds. I guess there are advantages to this system, I'm just having a hard time getting my head around what they are.

This one looks a little safer, what with the center of gravity being lower too, and less likelyhood of the rebound taking out the skipper.

A "carousel tug" as seen on here some where

I don't see the advantage! not when VS and ASD tugs are so versatile

that is my opinion though
