Mountfleet "Osprey"
« on: May 25, 2009, 01:36:43 pm »

I have just started the build of this model, and am quite pleased with it, but i have a question for the experts........................... Would this type of boat been fitted out for both Mine Sweeping and Mine Laying ?  I cannot  find any  pictures of any  of these boats even Armed. ( I have a couple of pictures of the class in various books).

I doubt that the late Frank H would have made any mistakes in the modelling design, meybe a bit of modelling license for the overall look, but carrying mines to lay, and Sweeping at the same time in such a small boat sounds definitely hazardous to ones health !

Can you expand? "Mines" as such are not supplied or at least were not when I reviewed the kit. If you are refering to the round black things hanging over the stern they are depth charges.

Rob, from the little bit of research I did before building my Osprey, yes, they did carry depth charges and no I'm not an expert.

This was my very first model boat build, during the winter of 08/09 and I am very pleased with the results.
