just an aside comment, why do they build things that big, where they then have to transport it through tight spaces and up winding roads, can they not design and build it, test it, take it apart in sections and then transport it, its like Eurobus planes, they transport sections through the french countryside through winding roads and tight villages to the assemble it in a plane factory with a runway, why didn't they build the factory and runway closer to a port to allow for easier transport, or build a bigger plane than the russian AN225 to transport lots of bits - beggers belief
AirBus wings are built in north Wales and are then flown to Europe in one of the specially built Buluga aircraft

Oh I know - a version of the super guppy but based on a A320 or similar, but you still have to figure why did they not pick somewhere more convenient for transport links.

Now thats where an 8 million price tag to stay on it would be worth it, especially if the two planes are VSTOL's, going up and landing at least once a day would be worth it

Airbus was not created for efficiency, but as a competitor to Boeing.

Airbus is a politically created consortium of European aircraft manufacturers. British Aerospace had 3 factories in the UK and each was protected during the wrangling, France also had a big aircraft industry and so they got a large slice too.
