Hi all I bet the guy who has the small boat has more fun!  Many of the large boats are status symbols and hardly go anywhere.

A Google search on....."1937 Ahlbeck Germany, German Soldiers on Maneuvers" ...........brings up the same image......

None of the soldiers in the inflatable rafts appear to be wearing Helmets, however in an accompanying image shows a different Group of Soldiers as wearing some type of Uniform Berets

Not a caption entry, but seeing the reference to Paris in the picture reminded me of something I saw during a visit to Paris last year. There is a large pond in one of the parks and a lady was renting out smallish free sailing yachts and poles for a few euros.  Must have been a couple of dozen boats on the water, kids (and parents) rushing about to catch their boats and having a great time (pond has a raised side so no chance of anyone calling in). What a cheap way to introduce kids to the hobby.
