When Martin calls for footy info, I jump.
This sets out to be the build log of a papie-mache square-rigged Footy racing yacht.
So it's right in the mainstream of model boating, and I can gloss over the "insert Tab A in Slot tau"
When I started the idea was a
little silly, but since the square rig has moved on (in footys) enormously in the last month this little beauty is more sensible now than it was then!
Summary.
carved plug in blue foam - takes perhaps an hour
(say if anyone wants a how-to)
No finish whatsoever - just sanded with foam-backed finishing sheets
fixed to wood block so it can be held (upside down in the workmate)
Plug wrapped in kitchen film (cling film/saran wrap) - smoothed reasonably well, but not obsessively
3 layers of papie mache applied - torn-up newspaper soaked in dilute emulsion - in this case goldish colour
notice the elegant teardrop shape!
More as it happens
