2.4ghz conversion
« on: June 16, 2009, 02:31:34 pm »

Has anyone converted there 40meg transmitter to 2.4ghz using the add-on modules available? Are they as good as a standard 2.4ghz set?

Any info would be appreciated

Thanks

Russ

I have converted a Futaba 9c using the TM-8 module and have not had any problems with it. Straight swap and new receiver everything fine including range. (Initially on 35Mhz for aircraft use, now using as boat transmitter.)

Would be interested to hear any other reports on other modules though?

Best wishes

Thanks Jules,

I am looking at the new Jeti duplex system that they have just released, seems to have a good write up in Marine Modelling, bit pricey with a new 8 channel receiver but with the monitor/display unit it looks prety good....

Thanks

I  read that article and I hope article's in model magazines don't follow it, it was very good up to the point where he said that he was cleverer than most people who may read it , just to clarify this in case anybody did not read it .the article was about the fitting of a Jeti 2.4 mhz module inside a TX , he did all the mounting  and the fitting of the new ANT then the final part was the connection of the unit inside his Fleet TX this is when he said that he knew how to connect it and where to BUT you will have to get an experienced qualified fitter to do this , all the unit req is power and a signal point. WHY DID HE NOT PUT AN AROW ON THE BOARD POINTING TO THE POINTs.
so five pages where useless, does he not understand what modelers do, they do things as much as possible themselves , I have been buying this mag since it started and I have to say It Peed me off, I haven't got a fleet tx I don't even like them , but I know there are a lot of boaters who love them and would have jumped at the idea of doing it themselves at it is a very simple mod to bring it back up to date he did quote £160 in the article to have one fitted . all for the sake of a simple explanation, some one may be able to tell me but does the fleet TX have a buddy socket if so the the connections req are on that. I have never written to a mag before but did over this a lot of people me included buy mags to find out ways to do things , he could of pointed to the spots and then said if you blow it up its on your own head.

I have fitted the new Jeti Duplex to my Futaba 9c and ran some tests last night and it worked flawlessly, the module was a straight plug in and you can bind the receiver with the transmitter or the Jeti-box which also feeds back information on the state of the servos, transmitter/receiver battery and all servo and receiver adjustments can be carried out from the Jeti-box, good piece of kit for the money.
