Anyone interested in a couple of very large 1/72nd scale battleships?
I'm talking, one is 8 feet and the other is 12 feet long as semi kits?

Paul,

Very interested in the smaller one, but you will have to let sail over here mate, as I would need a loan for the postage costs....
Still waiting for the other cost BTW....

Sounds like a queen elizebeth class @ 635 feet it scales down to just about 8 foot, could be wrong though  ;D

We Brits don't seem to be very good at that. The Queen Elizabeths were probably the best design of battleship ever built for their period and in terms of services rendered but we never preserved any of them. The Americans have a much better record in this respect.

Tell me about it Paul! I was involved peripherally in the attempts to preserve the Denny IoW ferry Southsea. Total cockup in all respects. A real tragedy and wasted opportunity.

As you say Paul, £ signs. No sense of history or heritage. Lot of ignorant people out there who think they are being clever. Trouble is, they can do a lot of irreversible damage. I never served in the RN but I do appreciate its place in the fabric of the nation. These people who ignore it are muppets!

Paul,

I saw your new 12' Bismarck hull on ModelWarships forum.  I belong to TF72 & build 1/72 scale, but that might be a tad too big to fit inside my apartment's elevator!  Living in Shanghai, I have size restrictions to consider, but still would be curious to know what else you've got there in the way of BIG battleships.

On another topic, I had sent an inquiry earlier this weekend towards 1/72 Simar fittings for a Flower Class conversion I'm doing.  I've resent the email today in case it didn't get through on the first pass.

Regards,

Chuck

Thanks for the tip about HMS Warspite.... warspite!
I spent an intersting 20 minutes reading her history on Wikipedia.....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Warspite_(1913)

"she was credited with achieving the longest range gunnery hit from a moving ship to a moving target in history. This was a hit on the Giulio Cesare at a range of approximately 26,000 yards " ..... look up how long that really is!!!

Martin.

your forum name has a Cryptic clue.
 Paul...
Now if you were to say "with the stern casements and no external bulges" I'd be interested. But I suspect the "market" would demand the WW2 mods?

HI YA

Just out of pure curiosity, did this Queen Elizabeth battleship hull come from Sirmar? Psships

cause I know Sirmar had 2/3 of these to sell before he sent the moulds over to Australia - just curiosity.
