Aerial Photos
« on: June 21, 2009, 11:48:36 pm »

There were some lovely aerial photos in the topic "Weather", so perhaps we could have a separate thread for this particular aspect of photography. I'm sure many people have taken photos from aircraft in the course of their travels, and maybe they could share these with us.

I'll kick off with three of my own; the first is the mouth of the Richmond River, at Ballina NSW, from a Jetstar Airbus A320. The second is the rugged Southern Alps in New Zealand's South Island, as we were heading back to Australia in a Pacific Blue Boeing 737-800, and the third shows Sydney's CBD, including the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, taken from a Virgin Blue Boeing 737-700, as we were setting up for an approach to Kingsford Smith Airport.

Hi guys, I have got shed loads of really good ones if anyone wants to see them, trouble is I have a new business pc that does not have photo software on it, but, I can email them to someone if they want to post them for all to see? They are mainly of North Wales and Snowdon areas where I fly mainly. I did send "Bunkerbarge " some the other week and if he sees this, Richard, post the best ones you have so far mate!

Another one of Sydney. Sydney Cricket Ground (left) and Sydney Football Stadium (right), side by side in the lower right of the photo. Randwick Racecourse on the left, and Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport, international and domestic, in the centre of the shot. The parallel runways project out into Botany Bay.

Beautiful Peter, I can't match those , but here are two from Spain. The first is of Lake Viñuela in Malaga. Our house is close to the left bank. The second is not quite from the air, but from high up on the Rock of Gibraltar showing the airport which sits between the Rock and Spain..

Here are some more of Paul's, which he emailed to me for posting on the forum. I recognise the bridges at Conway Castle, but Paul will have to identify the others himself.

But wait, there's more, a sequence taken coming in to land at Hawarden, near Chester. Some of the earlier ones are from the same flight.

Another couple of my own. The first shows Botany Bay, with the airport runways; Maroubra Beach, one of Sydney's many surfing beaches, can be clearly seen, while just to the left, at the end of Long Bay, is Malabar Beach. Sydney Harbour itself is out of shot to the right.

The other shot is of the sugar cane fields near Ballina, only about 15 kilometres from my home.

Thats my house and barn and part of my farm at the bottom of the picture. The thin strip of blue at the top is Lake Simcoe.
