Scale Flags
« on: October 31, 2006, 12:07:25 am »

Does anyone know of a source of realistic-looking scale flags? I'm particularly interested in a 1:48 White Ensign. What I want is a flag that is "soft" enough to hang and flap in a convincing manner.

Any ideas?

Look up Westborne Models, they sell a range of realistic flags...Oh "xxxxx", i can't remember the company that makes them ??? Anyway the flags are very nice quality, flexible, and waterproof.

I'm sure some smart ar*e will post the companies name on here....thank god for smart ar*ses, what would we do without them ;)

Rick...

Try Malc Reade (Reade Models - click on his header link above these posts) he stocks a good range of these too.

Reade Models, Westbourne Models, modelflags.com (and others) all offer flags by BECC for sale.  Prices may vary from outlet to outlet.  I can't speak for the others, but Reade Models sell BECC's products at the recommended retail prices.  I do know that the prices shown on modelflags.com web site exclude VAT.

Dear Malc,

Whilst in all fairness I have not dealt with the other suppliers you mention, I think the main possible advantage is that modelflags.com only deal in flags and nothing else, thus they are a totally dedicated service. From experience, nothing is any trouble, and every effort is made to get you exactly what is needed - and if one makes the appropriate nice noises one off's can be done (if an ill. is available of course). The bulk of their business is to the US it seems, as not that many people seem to have heard about them here - or know how good their service is anyway. No, I am not connected with it!!! - it's just that if a supplier (indeed any supplier), gives me an A1 100% service, I will support them.
