Looks good to me - you seem to have given it just the right character. What did you start with? - one you made earlier or did it come from Ebay? Do you have any progress pics?

Thanks for the pics - everybody on the forum loves pics! I like the idea of sticking on steel wool to create streaky rust marks!

Thanks mike
when you put the steel wool on just wet it with a bit of water sprayed on leave it to dry
then spray again leave it to dry when it is completely dry wipe off the access and you are left with
real rust , and best of all it does'nt come off in the water.

Thanks for that. I will certainly give it a go on mine. It will be a while yet though - I've been at it nearly two years and all I've done is fit the rudder, motor and the two bulkheads! The rest is just an evolving mock-up.

Right,  Looked at a couple of pictures (more like a couple of hundred)
of different puffers, and liked the look of some of them so now I have
taken the toilet off and changed it a bit,
The rust work is now starting to show but wont be ready until tomorrow.

Geoff,

I'm building the Caldercraft Northlight - same as yours, but it won't look as good! Thanks for the extra close ups and the pictures of your fleet - very impressive. The puffer is my first build (and probably last at the rate I'm going!)

cheers mike,
tomorrow everything will be dry then it will be its first sea trials since going into dry dock,
hopefully everything will be ok touch wood (hand on head only wood i could lay my hands on ha ha),
try to get some pictures on the water.
got to go to work shortly 2 jobs today and 1 for mothers day (I drive a limo on the weekends).

Just one more thing the titanic that you see in the above pictures I built from scratch 1 for a friend of
mine and 1 in honour of my dad who sadly passed away a year and a half ago of cancer,
the amsterdam tug has now been redeveloped all of the lights are working and the fire hoses pump water as well,
the police launch has working lights, flashing light, search light and also a siren,
the cruise liner has lights and a smoke generator,
hopefully in time I will put on lights and hopefully a smoke generator as well

Geoff,

I look forward to the pictures on the water. Sorry to hear about your dad - but you made an excellent tribute.

Making things work is my downfall!

She certainly looks the part on the water - ripples in the first pic just the right size and you obviously had a nice sunny morning. Hopefully the battery problem is just a charging issue and it doesn't need mending with a new one!

Well, looked at the motor and according to the size a 6volt battery is plenty for it so looked at the battery and according
to my ampmeter the battery is not holding the charge for very long so looks like its time to invest in a new 6volt battery <:( <:(

Had a change of heart with the battery size so the prop shaft to accomodate a 12 volt battery,
tried it in the personnel sailing pond (the bath) moved the ballast around a bit and eurika
I now have a working puffer that lasts more than 5 mins, (about 2 hours) now,
when the weather gets a bit better I will post some more photos.
                                             geoff.
