Loyal Tender
« on: November 02, 2006, 06:15:47 pm »

Hi everyone,
here's my Loyal class tender in progress. I think you may decide is it super-detailed or not  :)

It has working navigation lights, interior and deck flood lights, radar, bow thruster, JJC's sound modules etc. The motor is Graupner Speed 720 Torgue with direct drive and controlled by Robbe Rokraft Navy ESC.

Regards,
Harri, Finland

Cargo winch waiting for paint. End of the cable drum was very bad casting, so I made better one from styrene.

Over a year since last posting to this thread, not much happened...  ::)

However this is how it looks now. Hull is painted gloss and waiting for decals.

Noticeable progress today. Handrails on wheelhouse roof waiting for paint (yes, this model certainly is used to waiting...  ;)).

Harri,

I am just starting a MS Loyal Tender kit and am very impressed by the kit's completeness and general quality.  Indeed it is even better than the MS "mini" Steam Drifter I have just completed.  I also enjoyed reading your summary on this Forum and sincerely hope I can match your very impressive quality of build.

I too would like to include a bow-thruster if possible on this great model subject - but I am far from sure if this is a scale feature.   Could you please advise if a thruster was fitted to any of the original vessels?

with best wishes                         John               Knaresborough North Yorks  :D

Thanks John,

I'm pretty sure there was no bow thrusters in original vessels. However some of them has later installations. I just wanted a bow thruster  ;D

Hope you enjoy the build. I am very pleased to this model so far.

This is my model today. (wow, it starts to look like a ship!  8) )

I can confirm that while with Govt service none of this class were fitted or retro-fitted with a bow thruster.
Since disposal however several that I have seen have been.

The detail of your work is outstanding, and I must say that your pics of her in the water are like true art by them self. Magnificent!

Today working with liferafts. Easier than I expected. Masking tape is a great help for holding pieces together when glue is drying.

Here's a photo of drive line. Wiring is very messy as usual in my models. Main reason is that there's three different voltages: 12V for drive motor and JJC's sound modules, 6V for bow thruster, water pump, navigation lights and radar motor and 4,8V for receiver, servo, deck and interior lights.

Drive motor is Graupner's Speed 720 Torgue which is very powerful and low revving. Robbe's Navy 535 is my very favourite esc since it's very silent and smooth operating. Actually the whole drive line in this model is so quiet that you hardly can hear any noise when model is in water :)
