Who lives under your bench?
« on: November 05, 2006, 02:58:32 am »

I once read of a modeller who was insistant that a 'small fellow' lived under
his bench, and removed the tiny part he had just spent two days finishing.

Whoever resides under my bench seem to go a little further, he/she digs holes in the floor and buries at least 10% of any small bits i leave on top, anything that goes on the floor is his for the keeping, i no longer bother looking for them.

Perhaps he/she is the one logging in as a hidden user?

So, what name do you give your theif?

J.

"Murphy" lives under my bench.  You know, he's the one "Murphy's Law" is named after.

Nothing could possibly live under my bench - they would drown under a sea of rubbish!

forum wont allow the name of my under bench gremlin!

I have a gargoyle posted outside the door to ward off evil spirits, but the gremlin seems to be gargoyle proof!

Mine just can be called a "Black hole"- it absorbs massive amounts of materials of any kind and will blow them out one day in the opposite corner of the workshop. Just wonder if it is feeded by the spiders under my workbench?  ::)

P.s.: There is another phenomenon: As a modeler you use to lead an anxient life- the life of hunters and collectors. No bit you`ll find will be thrown in the bin- you`ll keep them for ages. Keeping them for 20 years or more you`ll find them out of use and throw them away. Two weeks after roaming up you remember that there was somewhere somewhat....- had it in my hands a dozen times....- and you remember that you had thrown it away recently.....

I'm not sureabout anything being under my bench, apart from a lot of useful stuff that I must sort out, but my tools in particular seem to move about. They are never where I put them down and always appear under something I haven't touched recently. That's why it takes me so long to make anything. For every minute I spend modelling I spend 2-3 looking for the tools  ::) ::)

Cheers

I thought I had built a garden hut, now you reckon it's a Tardis. Certainly explains mysterious disappearances. Now I'm going to sit there and wait for Billy Piper to pass through and have a game of Gotcha  ;D ;D

Our old shed was a bit rotten around the back. Moggies used to get in and get curled up on the bench. Nearly had a heart attack several times when I walked into the shed to be confronted with a furry beast!

I must have something under my bench, but I dread to think what. When ever I drop something it always ends up outside the shed, Sppoky.

I have one of those little fellows living under the bench, and he gets called a variety of names, none which I will reiterate here!  ;D

I think he is a close relation to the little goblin that used to live under the dashboard of my mini and empty a cup of water into the footwell whenever it rained- never could track down that little bar steward.
