No range!!
« on: July 22, 2009, 07:38:48 pm »

Hello, I bought a Super Work Boat to retrieve my RC sailboat. And it has a range of only 25 feet, NOT 100m like the book has. Batteries are  charged and anttenna is seated correct. Lights are all bright and and runs strong. But I cant get my sailboat.

What sort of radio is fitted? If it is one of the sort commonly fitted to RTR boats the signal will be swamped by anybody using a 'normal' RC set on the same frequency band. Note i said frequency band not particular frequency. So if anybody close by is using a 'normal' set your boat will lose the signal 10 - 15 feet away from the TX.

If your boat is fitted with 'normal' RC then try getting the RX aerial vertical.

the radio gear fitted to these tugs is the onboard type ,and is realy only efective on the pond when there are no other opperators in the area.
The best thing (in my opinion) is to replace it with a 2 ch radio , there is a conversion build on here.

No other boaters or anything around at local lake or pool out in the countryside... added a lithium battery, no help. And ran wire up through flag pole..

Lots of things can interfere with these small radios.

But if you are going to use it as a rescue boat, you do need to change the radio set, you need to buy a transmitter and reciever, unfortunatley. But then you will have something much better.

heres a link for a 3 channel transmitter and receiver. but you only need the 3rd channel for the fire monitor. if you don't need the fire monitor to work there are two channel radio packs for cheaper prices again
