sorry guys another question, are the plastic motor mounts worth using or do they make alignment more difficult seeing as they move and bend a bit, is there more solid better alternative? im trying to get it running as quiet as poss so want to avoid using anything thats gonna make it harder.

Plastic mounts are OK as long as they are secured to the hull well.
I prefer to use double / Kardan type couplings these days even if I have managed to
get the motor and shaft in perfect alignment, (... because you never really can)!
A double coupling allows for a bit of flex and quietens everything down.

For electric motors, don't go too over the top, a sadle mount and a good elestic band will hold
all but the most powerful motors securely in place....

they are available in two sizes the one shown is a 540 can size you can also get one to suit a 380 can motor and they are almost bulletproof with heaps of adjustment all i did was epoxy it to the hull.

Hope i helped
