come on you guys this is a great opportunity to have a go at tug towing and you don't even have to bring a boat if you haven't got one i am sure we can find one for you to use also this venue has got to be one of the best lakes to sail in the world ( well maybe not the world but not far off  O0 ) so if at all you can make it then you will not be disappointed

hope to see you there

Approaching Balne Moor from the South - up the A1 - which route would the locals choose? The route planners all seem to suggest routing through the middle of Doncaster which might be OK but I haven't driven there.

HI Chris, for someone who has not visit the pond before the easiest way (but the longest) is to keep going up the A1 to the M62. Follow the M62 East to Hull. The first junction you will come to will be the A19 (Selby (North) or Doncaster (South)). Go A19 South, through Whitley Village. Just after village Xroads, turn Left (BALNE), carry on for just over a mile and you will see a railway bridge over the road. As you approach the bridge start to indicate right. On your right is Blane Moor fishery, turn right through the gates and carry on straight forward. The sailing lake is infront of you.
Hope to see you there.

Andy

Oh yes & looking forward to it.

I am desperately trying to get a tug finished that I can have on holiday with us as my others are too big (46" or 54" tugs, caravans, wife, a Red Setter dog & 2.5 weeks away from home are not an easy combination) . If I can't then I hope to take up Ministeve's very kind offer of borrowing one. I am sure that I would finish mine better for towing after learning from the experts than I will if I finish it before; but it would be nice to bring my own.

Brilliant set of photos Martin, thanks for posting them. Must have spent well over an hour going through them yesterday evening, there wasn't an awful lot on the tele!
