As the Goole club is on the site of the last remaining coal hoist  i thought it would be appropriate to build some pans and push them around the pond , so to work .
As i didn't want to lug around representations of the full size pans i decided on some that would look the part on the water as loaded one's . For the base i cut a rectangle of ply 12"x 18" and rounded off the corners , then glued it to pollystyreen , four post's were then drilled and glued to each corner and a pin fitted across the tops for ropes to attach .
The whole thing was then sanded and painted with emulsion (blue) and left to dry , before sailing i managed to give a couple a paint over with mat black and a boarder of red . To stop them drifting side ways i routed a slot and dropped a keel/ skegg in .
The end result (when i get all 9 of them fiinished there should be 19 of them  %% )should be a train of loaded pans long enough to cause an obstruction and a challenge for the tugs .

Oh and the but on the front is a jebus , designed to break the wash as the pans are flat fronted.

Work has gone steady over the last few days and the pan's have been painted , i have also made up a set of tension ropes to lash each pan to it's neighbour .
I also built a tug to tow/push the pans around in the style of those opperating at that time , this is a simple ply and polystyrene hull where all the electrics will be on deck covered by the wheelhouse and engine room, still not finished  but i will get round to it  :} .

Today i had the rest of the pans on the water along with the tug , but to push and pull the train around the pond . With the springer i would still need assistance in navigating the train around the pond.
