I am needing a little advice on what would be the best design to use to build this 1920 Auckland Harbour Board Towboat.

I am thinking either a shortened Bluebird of Chelsea or a shortened Schnellboot with a single screw on either.

It is  a 40' boat which at the time was the largest and strongest of the towboats on the harbour.  When rediscovered in 2005 it was found she was fitted with a 260hp Cummins diesel that can push her at 14.5 knots. The original power unit was a locally built 40hp Twigg marine engine that powered her for 34 years.

If there is a better design to use please offer your suggestions.

Have you tried the Maritime Museum in Auckland to see if the have the original plans? Their service is not the speediest, you have to wait until the Librarian comes in which is only once a week but if they can help they usually will and the charge is reasonable. Cheers, Ian.

Thanks for the offer but I already have the Bluebird plans, 1/12 scale, was planning on building eventually, but I keep finding more tugs to work on.
