Trawler Our Lass II
« on: August 02, 2009, 08:40:53 pm »

I am a lazy modeller so a couple of months ago I bought a ARTR Trawler 'Our Lass II'. This weekend I ballasted it with lead to bring it down to the waterline and fitted a 2.4 Ghz  RX. I have added a few subtle details but there is a lot more I would like to do yet as well as giving it a good weathering. As the sun was out this morning I took her down to the lake for her maiden voyage.

I am think about buying this model from Deans Marine. As there are no reviews about the model could you recommend it and how big is the packaging it comes in.

Your photos look great.

Our Lass II is the trawler that supplies all the seafood to "The Magpie" restaurant in Whitby - regarded by some as the best fish 'n chip shop in Whitby (and also the most expensive!).

I am also thinking about buying this ARTR model. As it states it is "almost ready to run" but how far from ready is it? i was thinking that it has everything apart from a battery and a remote control is this correct?
Also how long did it take the model to arrive from the day of payment?

Yes you just need a battery a TX & RX and some sort of ballast I used lead.
I ordered on a week day and it arrived next day!

where could i get the battery, TX and RX from and how much would it cost?
Also which ones did you use on your model?
did you use a 6V or 12V battery?
im useless at understanding electronics.

I wanted this kit really bad for Christmas but Slipway won't have any for the states until after the first of the year. I instead went with the Vliestroom from Slipway dealer Harbor Models.

Hi there, I was lucky enough to have one of the first batch sent out. She's well worth the wait, a great kit. I'd got another boat to finish but couldn't resist getting started on her! Top marks to Model Slipway, Dave. :-))
