John Hemmens used to make a very similar unit as well, you can contact him via his web site here:

http://www.steamengines.co.uk/

As regards the Forest Steam item I have to say I think it's a bit much that you are expected to purchase the nuts and cones seperately for another £4.50.  On top of the £39.99 that is unreasonable.

Ok thanks guys. So if the Forest Steam pressure regulator is expensive, do you know a better / cheaper option?

These people may be worth communicating with, they do a range of gas control valves that I have heard good things about.

Also Monahan use attenuators in thier steam plants so it is well worth sending an e-mail to Nick.

I can't find any gas regulators on Monahan's site...
The ones fron Anton look very nice, I might get one of those.

I'm still not sure if a simple unit is sufficient and how much better the double valve unit is?

There are no attenuators on Monahan's site.  He uses them in his supplied plants though so he is obviously worth communicating with.

I use an old Cheddar gas pressure regulating valve to stabilise the pressure in conjunction with an electronic boiler pressure regulating vale which works extreemly well.  The electronic type of regulating valve is available from Stuart nowadays and is exactly the same unit as the old Cheddar one.

Thanks. I prefer the mechanical one though. I'm trying to keep electronics out of my engines, as far as possible (except for r/c, of course).
Now I just have to figure out which type of gas regulator I should get, and it seems more complicated than I thought, will all the possibilities out there  %)
