Pusher tug info needed, please...
« on: August 28, 2009, 07:14:21 pm »

A spot of info from you tug builders, please chaps...

The hull...a pusher tug in f/glass measuring 26” x 10”.

I'd appreciate your recommendations please, for motive power installation... I was thinking of 2 x 540 low drain motors in kort nozzles, both independantly controlled via ActION Man esc's, all powered by the biggest 6 volt gell cel battery I can fit in the hull.

Would I need a bow thruster? If so, I'm thinking of using a water pump to suck and blow water through a tube mounted low in the bows...any comments?

Ta,

Rich

With a hull that size there's no need to g othe expense of korts. If you are using seperate motor controls and have the steering runners on one servo and the flanking rudders on another servo you can walk the boat and barge sideways. The trick is to leave the steering rudders straight, forward on one motor and back on the other, then you turn the flanking rudders the direction you want to go. It takes some pratice on the throttles, but it's how the real ones do it. Check out my site on push boats at http://towboatjoe.com
