J P Brushed Marine ESC

Hi
I want to use the 12v motor battery to power the BEC
There are three wires on the receiver lead .. orange/red/brown
Which one do I have to dis-connect please..I think it is the red one
but I am not sure

If you want to use the ESC's BEC to just work the ESC and nothing else, disconnect the red wire.  The RX and any servos will need an alternative power source, such as either another BEC or a RX battery pack.

Make sure your Rx can take 12volts - it seems a little high for most Rx.
