Help with Perkasa 49"
« on: August 29, 2009, 08:33:06 pm »

Hi everyone, I am still in the process of building my Perkasa 49" and I would like to use electric in her when she is finished, but I haven't got a clue on how many motors I will need or what size, also what size rudders should I fit, what size propellers and propeller shafts should I use, what kind of speed controller and radio gear do I use? This is the first time I have built any kind of remote control model, so any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Dave.

Hi Dave, welcome to the forum.... :-)) :-))
Right where to start... How fast do you want it to go? Scale speed? A bit faster than scale speed? Or screaming across the lake like a banshee!!
I have just the motor(s) you will need, have a look at this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fp3RNTVk1z4
This is a 49" Perkassa using just 1 (one) of my MMB 900 motors running on 24 volts, it ran for approx 45 mins on one set of 4300mah Nimh stick packs and a 55mm plastic 'X' prop.  Here are the specs of the motor http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=19292.msg187412#new
