Prop Shaft sizes

Could someone help ? How do you measure the size of a prop shaft I need to replace a geared drive system with a direct drive system but do not know what size the prop shaft is I.E m4 - m3

I've been out the modelling game a while and just returned the beginning of the year.

M is the thread, most shaft are this.
2,3,4,5 Is the diameter.

If I'm wrong some one will soon be along to correct me. O0
