EeZeBilt RAF Crash Tender
« on: September 07, 2009, 10:10:54 am »

I've just put up the first tranche of pictures of the test EeZeBilt Crash Tender. 20" of balsa, cost about £3.50 + glue and propshaft so far. Find it at http://modelboats.hobby-site.com/RAFPics1.html

There's a fair bit wrong with it, but that's what test builds are for....

I never built a Crash Tender, but those photos certainly brought back the memories, such as the first EeZeBilt I built (when about 10) and glued the two keel pieces too close to get the prop shaft between them.

Deep joy! >>:-(

Funny you should mention that. This model was made with the standard eezebilt gap of about 1/8" for the propshaft, then I looked to find one to buy and settled on a Hobbies one that was 1/4" wide. So I also had to do what you did when you were 10, and cut a bigger hole.....

You'd have thought I would have learned by now....

.... Keep us updated.

Ahh, Martin...there are so many things to do at once.  I have to find appropriate low-cost hardware, paints, batteries...Should we use expensive balsa glue, or cheap and common PVA which may come apart in water..... Do I start a steam launch before finishing the Crash Tender...

I hope to see a small Chris-Craft coming in the future (not from me) - that should be spectacular in polished mahogany...

And the Australians are coming onto the scene. I have just come back from my local model shop, where they showed me some of these imported models - http://www.centuryuk.com/Products/Balsa+Wood+Kits - all complete with prop, motor and glue, addressed slap at the old eezebilt market. They said this was a resurgent area, so you may see an increase in junior modellers come Christmas... Now we just need to get all the councils to put back the old boating lakes.....
