Plan Printing copies of plans of unusual size
« on: September 10, 2009, 10:38:12 am »

I'm having fun and games finding someone who can print a paper copy of a set of line drawings drawn on draughtsmans plastic.

The plan is actually two A1 negatives fixed end to end on their shortest sides so the whole thing comes out at 66" x 23".

Because its an odd size I've been quoted anything from £4.00 to £10.00 per paper print which is a bit steep for two minutes work and a long bit of paper!

Any ideas anyone? I live in Bridlington Yorkshire.

 £4 (and upwards) for a copy of a plan of the size you require is a bargain as far as I'm concerned and should be taken advantage of PDQ.

Hello Popeye,

The £4 figure is for multiple copies for which they give discount but we are talking 100 at a time!

Much as I would be happy to pass on my drawings to folks here wanting to build my ships I don't want to invest in a huge stack of drawings without confirmed orders.

The situation is that prints are taken off a 33" wide continuous paper roll so I have to pay for 66" x 33" plan size! :((

A local architect is prepared to print them at £6 a go so cost price to your door including postal tube and 1st class postage is £9.33

No sure if thats too dear to folks - we'll have to see {:-{

Oops, your first message implied cost related to a single copy, not a bulk order.

My local print shop charges £3 for a single A2 size paper copy and prices get more expensive the larger the size of paper required-copies don't come cheap from the specialist copiers- so perhaps you'll have to bite the bullet and go for the £6+ offer, unles you find a cheaper source: it'll still be easier, quicker and probably more accurate than drawing up your own plan.

Good luck whatever option you decide on.
