Gentlemen...
Since I bought my new laptop, I've been using my old destop pc for just playing music through, as it has a 5.1 digital surround sound card installed, and it's always worked perfectly...whilst the good lady was here it sat in the bedroom, unplugged and doing nothing, now she's gone back home for a while I fancied treating the neighbours once more with a couple of hundred watts of The Floyd, so out came the desktop into the front room, I plugged it all in and switched it on....it gets as far as screen saying “PCI device listing” at the top and “Verifying DMI pool data” at the bottom of the screen and won't go any further. I've done the 'control-alt-delete' bit, but it just comes back to the same screen....
Any ideas as to what the problem is and how to rectify it? No techie talk please....plain sweeper drivers language only!!!
