Parking in North Shields (Northumbria Quay)
« on: September 14, 2009, 09:16:11 pm »

I'm happy to tell you that I'll be off to Amsterdam next week on the King of Scandinavia, what I'm less happy about is that (apparently) Port of Tyne want £12 a day for the car park at the ferry terminal. Can anyone point me in the direction of a more reasonable (but still safe !) car park in the area. Leaving on Tuesday 22nd - back on Sunday 27th
While we're here can any of our Dutch friends tell me where the best ship modelling shops are in central Amsterdam.
Best Wishes

I imagine that the last place to look for help is from "us locals" as we never need to look, seeing that we can park at home. But having said that, £12 per day is 50p per hour....which is less than the 1p per minute charged in the town centre. 80p for 2 hours on the sea front....but I doubt that the machine would accept that amount of time. I guess you can only hope that someone from far flung parts has had, and solved the problem. Sorry. BY.

How much will you charge to 'keep an eye on it' outside your house Bryan?  ;)

I'd do it for free if I had the space. But I don't. Sorry. BY.

Hi Westcoaster,

I was in Amsterdam a few years ago and there was a modelling shop in the ground floor of the maritime museum (which is worth a look round anyway!).
 try this link http://www.hostelsamsterdam.com/museums/scheepvaartMuseum/

Thanks Richie for the link for the Maritime museum, unfortunately when I investigated further,it turns out the place is closed for redevelopment until 2010. A pity, because I'd have liked to visit.
Bartapuss, is space cake "in season" at the moment?  ok2
BY, exactly what sort of cap is it you require ? - on reflection, maybe you shouldn't answer that !!
Best Wishes to all

being serious for a moment....take some time out and go to the Model Village(Town) at Madurodam. The models and layout will blow you away. Cheers. BY.
