The Soundswitch has been specially developed for RC modelling, and is designed to allow models to generate their characteristic running sounds, varying automatically according to the model's speed. In addition to the running sounds the module can reproduce up to sixteen different supplementary sound effects.
Automatic engine start, accelerate, stop, idle, brake andreversing sounds can also be reproduced. Four sound reproduction channels are available, i.e. a maximum of three supplementary sound effects can be reproduced at any one time in addition to the normal running sounds.
The set includes software which can be used to transfer your own recorded sounds to the module via a PC.
All sounds stored on the module can be modified at any time. Integral high-performance output stage for connection to a3 loudspeaker.
Seven switched outputs are available, for connection to LEDs, lamps, relays etc.; various lighting effects can also be exploited.
The Soundswitch is connected directly to the receiver, and detects the vehicle's running speed in parallel with the speed controller.
Instructions in German, English and French
Program CD
Suitable for use with all expandable radio control systems with more than two channels.
Update-capable via the Internet
Dimensions approx. 67 x 44 x 16mm

Hi Martin I have not used it. I can see one problem and it is the same problem as ESU sound chips for model loco's were you can put your own sound file on. The problem is getting a good and by good I mean very good sound recording. When the file is compressed and then play back via the chip on to a small speaker an ok sound recording will sound bad. I know some one who records sound of locos for putting on to ESU chips and he say the biggest problem is wind noise over the mic . He played me 2 sound recording of the same loco one had slight wind noise in the back round and the other was perfect. When they were played through the loco chip the poor one sound terrible .I was amaised  at how a bit of back round noise could affect the recording. If you can get hold of very good sound recordings this could be a bit of great kit.

3W maximum power isn't very much e.g. JJC and RCMW units both used Philips TDA8945S 15W amp chips. If you want the extra power then the Graupner booster amp will set you back another forty quid, and a decent speaker will leave you little change from two hundred.
Caveat emptor.

Just an FYI - our SFX6 sound module can put out up to 40 Watts from its built in power amp. when operated at 26Volts. At 12Volts it will put out about 10 Watts. Whilst the Philips TDA8945S amps. used elsewhere claim 15Watts, that's only at 18Volts supply. On 12Volts they give out about 7 Watts.

Our price is CAD$199.95, but that does include two completely independent throttle controlled engine sounds and it plays back at full CD sound quality.
With a decent speaker at CAD$22.95, all up price is about £125.

Details are at : http://www.modelsolutions.ca/catalog_sound_systems.htm

Nope, can't help there. You'll have to go to Graupner to get instructions in English. For a big company like them I'm very surprised they didn't provide multi-language capability in the first place.

You can also try using one of the on-line language translators such as :

http://translate.google.com/translate_t#

but that will be a bit of a pain.

Does it not tell you at the end of the instructions what buttons to click on and when, along with diagrams of what you will see on your monitor when using the CD ?
