hi guys
need to know if this motor and gearbox will fit and which prop i use,
mfa 5 pole 980D61 (4.5v - 15v) WITH RE 385 MOTOR. RATIO 6:1
i think its around 2000 rpm at 12v.

No need for a gearbox,540 motor with 50mm prop on 6v,is fine

and it doesent get hot? must have no pitch on it I would have thought I would have thought 35mm was more like it.

It does get hot thats why i got water cooling in them

Hi,
The best speed is around 6000 rpm for the standard 1 1/2" 40mm prop in a Springer, this will give you excellent power without overdoing it, if your building a more scale like vessel then 4000 rpm might be more appropriate. If your using a larger prop then reduce the speed, the motor you have mentioned is too slow unless the boat has a 4" 100 mm prop.
