Hi Bosun thanks for your nice comment , the model is 5ft long with a 9inch beam runs 2 motors 540 I think mounted rear of the boat and coupled to twin shafts with pullies and double "o"rings geare to 2-1 mtronics viper v15 speed control and 12v 7.5 amph gell cell.
She has been running most weekends in salt water for the last two years so as soon as I finish my new boat its in for a refurb.
Cheers from downunder

I like the engine/drive set-up. I'd been thinking of doing this for the ferry, but I always thought that some sort of "tensioner" was required for the belts. Am I wrong? My (Proxxon) lathe tensions the belt by moving the drive spindle. Others I've seen have a spring loaded gizmo pushing on the belt. Ideas please? BY.

Bryan, use a toothed belt, they do not slip, tension by rotating the motor like you do you alternator

Hi guys the pulley system in the pic is not the same as mine just a demo as mine is the same setup only using "o"rings and they are tensioned up by moving the motors in a slot in the mounting frame it is a great way to do it as it leaves plenty of room in the hull for batteries ballast etc .
I get approx 1-1/2 hours running from a 12v 7.5 ah not bad for 2 motors
cheers
