It's not the circuits or even the drivers, it's the cars. What we need is steel brakes, flat bottoms, no venturis of any kind, vestigial wings (if at all), manual transmission, and a 10,000rpm rev limit. It worked well enough from 1966 to 1980.
In fact the much maligned 1 1/2 litre Formula 1 was more fun to watch. Remember Moss at Monaco and Nurburgring in 1961?
