Thanks for your kind words sir  %) hows it going with yours then ?
The Altair is gonna be a real pain to get sorted , if the shape of the stern isnt bad enough the bows have a big flare on them, and as for deck equipment oh dear !!! {:-{ but it will get there , no rush but i think a few harsh words will be said before shes done  >>:-( >>:-( <*< <:(

Nice job, have you got any pics of the wheelhouse as I'm just about to start mine (be fair I only got mine from Andy in November) and I need inspiration for the fitting out.

Hi guys, I have watched your posts with interest so now I will share my build with you all. I bought the Cygnus at the Ellesmere Port show last march. I was in quite a sorry state, I started with a simple plan from the manufacturers. The deck had been fitted to the top of the hull so the first job was to cut the deck free from the hull and reposition it. The Motor, Prop shaft and rudder were ready fitted so I left them. I had to strip the paint from the hull and the decks. Here are a couple of pictures from the start.

Hi Derek, the winch was bought from models by design but it was very basic. I used pictures of trawl winches and modified it to look more realistic. It still needs steel wire on the drums for the trawl plates and also that battered /used look.

Hi Ray,

You’re really cracking on there, looking good.  :-))

Would you mind telling us what the gantry’s made from and what size the cross section is, If it’s brass where did you get it?

Regards

thanks pete b  the gantry is made from evergreen plastic  shapes  (sorry cant remeber the size  ill have to look the nexted time im in the workshop)ive reinforced it  with round tube & is very strong (it has less movement than the brass on on my other trawler)  easyer to build  no soldering  just plastic weld  :-))  regards ray
