Hi! My name is Brian,
I am a new kid on the block and by new I mean new.
I am a long time aeromodeller on the wrong side of the proverbial three score years and ten,but last year I changed horses (or is it steed),to be a model boater.Hence my arrival on mayhem. This web site is awesome.I never dreampt this hobby was so popular.I'm amazed at the wide range of interests.
To start me off last year I bought a Mountfleet Models St.Nectan boat kit which took me about a year to complete. Why,you may ask,did I buy one of the largest kits available?Well,I got a bit carriied away,as you do.Anyway I like a challenge, and challenge it certainly was but an extreemly enjoyable experience,I've made a few notes and taken some photographs on the way.
Some other claims to fame---I did my Nationall Service from 30/10/62 to 29/10/64 (last call up date 31/10/62)
My first car was a Ford Popular, humped back style,6volt electrics, vacuum windscreen wipers, put your foot down and they stopped,
My first motorcycle was a James Captain 197cc two stroke.(Ask your dad or better still your grandad about theese two)
My first girlfriend was er---I won't go into that.

I hope my "CV" isn't too long,I do tend to waffle on a bit( Nod of agreement from she who must be obeyed)

Cheers for now
Regards Brian

Hi Brian

Welcome to Mayhem. Pull up a chair and get the kettle on. There is a wealth on information that should help you choose your next model.

I notice that you've built the St Nectan. I too am trying this model and I've even started a build blog for it, in the 'builds' section, so I may be coming over to ask you a few questions.  ok2  (big, aren't they    ;)

Why not show us a few pictures, as I'm sure we'd all be interested in seeing them. (We do like pictures on here, as I expect you've noticed)

Enjoy yourself

Hi Brian, welcome.

Your first car was fairly modern then. Mine was a 1941 Austin 10 with opening windscreen, sunshine roof, leather upholstery and no heater, oh, and running boards.

Dont forget the photos of your models, we like photos. :-))

Welcome aboard mate. Plenty to see and do around these parts and lots of friendly advice for if you get stuck. I'm about half your age so my first car was a 1975 Mazda RX-3 with a rotary engine. It was already nearly 20 years old when I brought it.

Welcome, Brian, from another who's on the wrong side of 70 (for those who don't know what 3 score years and 10 is  {-) {-) )

As Ken, Wasyl and Jonny have said, there's lots of information available here, you only have to ask, someone will be able to help.

Hi all,
Well what a delightfull welcome. Many thanks.
I am by no means a computer expert.I am still in the transition faze of converting from a scribbled note on the back of a Park Drive packet to computer. The former giving me quite some hassle.(I wish)Put it this way. Some people have a personal trainer, assistant, dietition, body guard, undertaker, overtaker etc.I have a personal computer trouble shooter.(My troubles naturally)
He is my eldest son bless him.Every time I make a cock up,which is quite often he comes over and usually says "I've never seen this hapen before".I rest my case.
Wullie, eat your heart out.I'm on Spiriva,Seretide.Bisopropolol,Clopidogrel,Asprin,Rampiril and Simvastin.I rattle when I've taken them all and for the first half hour I have to be careful where and when I break wind.
Right then! Now back to the plot.
I'll put some photos on the build section as soon as I can along with a few notes on the build. That is when I've figuered out how to do it.
I'm still a little boy in a mans body.On my latest calculations I'll need at least another score years to complete all the projects I have in mind.

Regards to all,Brian

Hi all.It's Brian again,
Thank you for all the input to my rather insgnificant little ramblings. It's comforting to know that out there is someone who can answer all queries re model boats.I get the impression that if there is no answer then the problem doesn't exist.
Wullie.I salute you sir.! feel that if you can write a list like that and still keep taking the medication like that it makes my ailments seem like a winter chill by comparison.
I am now looking into the possibility of entering the 2020 triathlon.
It seems we are of a similar ilk, keep looking on the bright side and above all else keep a sense of humour.Mine gets me into trouble at times but my basic outlook on life is, if it isn't life threatening then don't worry about it.Life is too short anyway.
Having said that I do have a serious side. I am nobodys fool and I do not suffer fools at all not just gladly.
I'm going to back off a bit now and get back to some serious boat building but I will still post the odd snippit now and again.
I've really enjoyed this little digression. May CHIT CHAT reign ad infinitum. I am really glad to be aboard.
I am a few days into my next winter build, MFM Cruiser tugboat.I'll keep you "posted"
(Doffs cap reverently and exits stage left)
Regards to all Brian
