Sorry to hear that Dicky. I know how you feel, had to put my faithful companion down 2 weeks before Christmas. I still find the house empty without her.

Sorry to hear about your loss Dicky. He was a beautiful dog. I've been there myself and its not pleasant. Are you going to get another one?

Richard, I'm very sorry to hear your sad news. I've also been there, and it's not nice. The unfortunate thing is that dogs have a relatively short life span, but you very quickly become attached to them, and miss them terribly when they go.

Richard,

I think many Mayhemmers have some awareness of what an important part of your life was Duke, we all wish you well.

Our Holly is showing her age more each day and we know the end is not far off. It seems too awful to think about.

I think you need a visit to your local Dog Rescue Centre.

Chin up!

Really sorry to hear about this, I know how you must be feeling as I lost my shepherd 10 months ago, he is sorely missed.

Remember the good times.

Best wishes.

John.

Not a dog person myself but this is the most impressive dog I've met...

Don't know what make, model, type or name, just know it didn't slobber, bark or scare the hell outta me.  :-))

Looks like an Alaskan Malamute Martin, basically a sled-hauling dog. Lovely animals, but don't leave them outside overnight - they will go off and find food for themselves, usually the local cat and dog population!!!

I know that quietness Richard Jo and I vowed never to have dogs again when the last of 4 had to be put of the miseries of old age we grieved for 12 mths before we caved in and visited our animal shelter and adopted Daisy a 8yo maltese shi tzu cross we were blessed as she is a delight and fitted in perfectly. You will grieve for Duke but eventually another will pull your heart strings.
I like every member of Mayhem wish yo well.

Dicky,

I also have had the unfortunate experience of having to put several dogs down, so I know the pain that your are feeling. Believe it or not the best thing that I have found is go out and get a new companion. You will never forget them but the new one will take your mind off of the pain because you have one next to you with all of it trials, pleasures and love. O0   So march your self down to the local humane society or dog pound or what ever it is called in your neck of the woods and get your self a new companion.

We are going  to do that Andre, but with me disabled and my better half waiting for a knee operation we have put it on hold for the moment.

Thanks anyway.

I heard they have a malamute at our local animals in distress place, sorry but when I heard that the first time, I pictured animals with stressy owners {-), in Canada its still called the dog pound O0, don't know why. Anyway, should I check for you Dicky, could use a run over your way, bout time we met right? :-))

So sorry to hear of your loss Dicky D, its one of hardest decisions to make as a dog owner, when this happens I always say more but after a month
I cant stand it, the house is so quiet and empty until a new puppy arrives.

Well I have taken the plunge and got another dog.

Not exactly a German Shepherd but will keep me company during the day and he follows the wife round the rest of the time.

At least he's not too small, or wont be when he grows up.

Hi Dicky, I hope you have fun with your springer - I have had two over the years - they are great dogs
but totally bonkers and usually very loyal.  Ex-wife No2 had just finished a baking session and had put an
apple pie, pineapple upsidedown cake and a chocolate sponge to cool on the kitchen bench - he couldnt
reach them all but he managed to eat the front half of all of them before we found out then was very sick.
He will definitely kieep you on your toes.  We are looking for a nice young border collie from the rescue
centre to replace our old collie Hamish who died a few months ago aged 18yrs. He was the craftiest
dog I ever had and frightened of nothing except our huge cat.  Have fun.
